How I teach speaking to groups at university.
I usually have small groups of 12-14 students at university, which makes the work easier and more effective!
I like to get them to work on creative activities, such as creating a group TV programme about world news.
The aim: to be funny and also serious when necessary, and to re-use the vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation they've learnt in class.
In general, they love this kind of creative work, especially if there's a playful element.
For those who are not comfortable, I ask them to create a podcast.
Other activities might include playing "who wants to be my partner? "who wants to join my company? explaining a word using a paraphrase", "presenting a TEDx"... the list goes on!
