"Is your name Tressy or Tracy?"
The question comes up often. On my birth certificate, it is indeed Tressy. But I also like writing Tracy, the English version. A nod to this language that has been with me forever.
As a teenager, I often had headphones on. English songs resonated in my bedroom. I didn't just listen to them: I sang, I mimicked the sounds, I played with intonations. Without knowing it, I was already learning.
At school, I was lucky enough to meet passionate teachers who encouraged me. Little by little, it became obvious: I wanted to understand this language... and pass it on.
I pursued a Bachelor's degree in English (LCE) at the University of Boulogne-sur-Mer, a stone's throw from England, my "second country." Then a Master's in Teaching (MEEF), before obtaining the CAPES in English in 2012.
I started teaching in the Calais area. Those first years were rich, but a conviction became stronger:
👉 we truly learn when we want to.
It was this idea that pushed me to change paths.
On January 1st, 2016, I embarked on the entrepreneurial adventure: Tracy's Lessons was born.
Home lessons, online lessons, workshops at the Language School, fun workshops, immersions for primary schools, training for professionals... Each experience reinforced my certainty: learning English can (and must) be a lively, motivating, and joyful experience.
I have taught:
Today, thanks to online lessons, I guide learners all over France, with very different profiles, but with one thing in common: the desire to progress.
My pedagogy rests on three pillars:
I prioritize active participation, varied materials, and situations close to real life.
For me, positive pedagogy is essential: we learn better when we feel confident.
I now teach English lessons in kindergarten schools, in middle section and upper section (ages 4-6), with a fun approach adapted to the little ones.
I also offer English lessons starting at age 4, in my office in Coulogne, on Saturday mornings, with parents present. This presence helps reassure the child and gently guide them in their first steps in English, in a caring and secure environment.
The goal is not performance, but the pleasure of discovering the language and daring to speak.
I give my lessons mainly online, but also at university, in training centers, and in my office in Coulogne, a space entirely dedicated to learning English.
When I think back to the teenager singing in English in her bedroom, I smile. Every word hummed led me here.
And the story continues to be written, every day, with my students.
