Who am I?

My story

“Is your name Tressy or Tracy?”

People ask me this question often. And to be honest… both work for me. On my birth certificate, it's Tressy. But I sometimes like to write Tracy, the English version. Like a nod to this language that has been with me since my earliest memories.

A teenager, headphones on

I can still picture myself as a teenager, headphones glued to my head. English songs echoed in my room. I didn't just listen to them: I sang them at the top of my lungs, played with the sounds, tried to match the intonations, to reproduce every accent.

Back then, I didn't yet realize that I was actually learning. But one thing was already clear: I wanted to understand those artists I adored. So I kept at it. And luckily, at school, I met wonderful teachers who guided and encouraged me.

An obvious path

Very quickly, the path carved itself out. The University of Boulogne-sur-Mer welcomed me for a degree in English (LCE). I was in the right place: just steps away from the English coast, ready to cross the Channel whenever I could to visit my “second country.”

Then came the time for a teaching master's, and the CAPES which I earned in 2012. I started teaching in the Calais area. Two rich years of experience, but a little voice inside me whispered: “This still isn't it…”.

Why? Because I had realized that what truly thrilled me was teaching those who really wanted it. Because yes, I am convinced: motivation is the true driver of learning.

The big leap

So one day, I dared. On January 1st, 2016, I launched myself into the entrepreneurial adventure. Tracy's Lessons was born.

At first, I gave private lessons at home: middle schoolers, children, adults, high schoolers… Then I experimented with my first online classes. Soon, I joined the language school in Calais. There, I led fun workshops, organized English immersions for primary students, and supported professionals in their training.

Each step reinforced my conviction: teaching English can be a joyful, dynamic, motivating experience .

Today… and tomorrow

Today, Tracy's Lessons has evolved. I mainly teach online, but also at the university, in training centers, and at my office in Coulogne, a 30m² space dedicated to teaching English.

When I think back to the teenager who sang her songs in English, I smile. She didn't yet know where it would take her. But in the end, every word hummed, every intonation imitated guided me here .

And the story? It keeps being written, every day, with my students .

“My Teaching Journey”

  • It all began at university, in those classrooms filled with curious students and passionate discussions. I led dynamic conversations and TOEIC training sessions, helping each student build confidence in speaking and reach their goals.

  • Then, at the IUT, I had the chance to work with several small groups of about a dozen students. Each session became a little language laboratory — comprehension, expression, grammar, vocabulary… we covered it all, always with good humor.

  • In middle and high school, I guided students through the National Education curriculum, trying to bring some life and joy into language learning. Because yes, English isn’t just a subject — it’s a doorway to the world.

  • My adventure at the École des Langues de Calais was a real turning point. I trained professionals from all backgrounds — from P&O Ferries to Airbus, Calais Opale Bus, and the Gravelines Nuclear Power Plant. I also created and led themed workshops inspired by the worlds of Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, Angry Birds, and Frozen — fun ways to make English enjoyable for children. Between training sessions in tourism or IT, I welcomed primary schools from the Calais area to help them discover the language in a new way.

  • At the same time, I’ve always cherished direct contact: tutoring at home in the Calais area, I’ve supported children, middle and high school students — as well as adults wishing to regain confidence in speaking or refresh their basics.

  • And today, thanks to online lessons, I’m lucky to meet learners from all over France: children, students, professionals, retirees, competitive sailors, nurses, therapists, police officers, executives, salespeople, job seekers… Each journey is unique, each story different, but all share the same goal: to learn English with joy and efficiency.

  • Even over the phone, each exchange becomes a real moment of connection and progress.

Methodology

  • When you start a course with me, I assess your level according to the criteria of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Throughout the course, we review your progress based on the CEFR grid and the objectives we set together on a regular basis.

  • My teaching approach is to encourage active participation from my students based on oral communication, but also to enable a more global progression (comprehension and written/oral expression).

  • I prefer to teach orally and playfully, and I establish a relationship of trust. For me, positive pedagogy is fundamental to establishing real progress.

  • With children aged 8-9 and over, whether face-to-face or online, English is learnt in a fun way. Vocabulary and grammatical structures are used to act out and play games that I have devised. The emphasis is on fun and, above all, practicality. You learn to use the language in everyday life.

  • With teenagers and adults, I work on all language skills and adapt to your needs. I use google doc and google slides for my course materials.

  • I prepare high school students for the Bac exam and develop their oral fluency by discussing subjects they are passionate about. I use google doc and google slides for my course materials.

  • When you take lessons with me, I'm available at any time during the week on WhatsApp, which you can download to your phone or computer free of charge. If you wish, you can ask me questions or just chat about a topic of everyday life. Of course, all these exchanges take place in English!
