"Ah, but I didn't know that this profession existed? Can you make a living from it?"

"How I envy you! I haven't liked my job for a long time, I'd love to do what you do".

These are the usual remarks I get. Sometimes my husband and I laugh about it, we anticipate these remarks haha! And you, sir, what do you do? senior researcher in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, teleworking for a Parisian company" "Wahhh, that's class! And yes... that's human nature.

So, any job can exist, human creativity has no limits. You can create any job you want. And it's not widely known, but more and more teachers are starting their own business. What's more, your company can have any legal status you choose.

Can you make a living from it? It all depends on your business plan. It's like your baker, your cheese-maker, your favourite clothes shop, your liberal psychologist, your gardener... It also depends on your organisation, your ability to work alone, your nerves, the prices you charge, your advertising, your relationship with customers... the list goes on.

If you're lazy, and paid holidays are really important to you: forget it! It's a job you're passionate about. Also, having a partner with a permanent contract helps during the slow periods. The job is like that, you have intense periods and slack periods.

"I envy you, I'd so like to do what you do! You see my successes but you don't see all the work that goes into it. Just like the artisans in your town, the private companies. So if I've managed to do it, you can do it too! I'm my own boss, which is great fun, but it also requires discipline. I like to have a positive influence on the people around me. I like the idea of helping them to break free from the baggage of a job that no longer corresponds to their expectations.
